22nd National Drawing and Print Competitive Exhibition

My Rachel screenprint is featured in this exhibition from March 28 till April 29, 2011. I would suggest you go and check it out if you live in the DC/MD area. It’s a interesting collection of work from different artists.
Rachel and St. Louis

I was recently accepted into the 22nd National Drawing and Print Competitive Exhibition at the Gormley Gallery at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, which opens March 28, 2011. The reception for the show will be Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 4 to 6 pm. I will do my best to be in attendance at the reception event, but I can’t guarantee I will be there.

In other news, I’m currently in St. Louis. MO, for the 2011 SGC International Printmaking Conference. So far this event is awesome and I’m really glad I came. Saturday is the Open Portfolio event which I’m really looking forward too.
Hope everyone had a great St. Patty’s day.
the little things that tell a story
I have been thinking a lot lately about how the things we own and keep around us that tell a story. The systematic thought process that goes into organizing chaos by using color, titles, genres, etc. Here are some images from around my room. All the color and childlike qualities make it interesting to look around my room and see what things you can find. I’ve never been one of those people who had everything on the floor and I knew where everything was. I’ve always had a place for everything and I’ve always organized my t-shirts by either color, or by genres and then color. My art shelf holds not just a bunch of art supplies but also important documents and it’s recently also become storage for my art and design magazines. I realize in this photo I don’t include the top shelf which is full of sketchbooks and boxes of pixel blocks. I also don’t show the bottom shelf of my bookcase which is filled with old school textbooks. I don’t have pictures of my walls, but they are covered in artwork and one part of my wall is painted with stars because i got bored.
Lady on the Veranda

This is the next image I’ll be working on a drawing on my litho stone. The image size is 14.5″x9.75″.
Sketches
Here are some sketches I’ve been working out trying to decide my next composition for my next lithograph after I complete my Tiger Girl print.
